Jackson Fine Art is pleased to exhibit new works by Masao Yamamoto and John Chiara throughout October. Yamamoto is known for his snapshot-sized monochromatic works, often presented in installations by the hundreds. His use of mixed media techniques and aged texturing recalls "memories dropping out of drawers." Recently, Yamamoto has been focusing on his Kawa=Flow series, emphasizing individual photographs as well as the collective entity.
San Francisco-based artist John Chiara combines photography and sculpture to create first-generation unique prints - without the use of film. Shooting with a handbuilt camera on a flatbed trailer, Chiara exposes and manipulates his images in situ. We're excited to bring Chiara's Mississippi photographs, taken over the course of one year in Coahoma County, MS, to the south.
Both exhibitions open with a reception and artist talk September 18-19 and will be on view throughout October as Atlanta Celebrates Photography.

Jerry Park calls his SlowExposures satellite solo show "Slow Roads Tennessee" which will be featured at A Novel Experience in Zebulon through October. He set out to see if he could capture "lasting goodness" along state, county and local two-lanes in the Volunteer State. He uses a Holga $25 plastic film camera to give the images an ageless feel, with the occasional streak of light across the picture and dark, ill-focused corners. Jerry says that toward the end of his journey across every county in the state, several of the photos began to dictate their stories, or poems, or essays to him--he wrote them down "as best as I could" and includes them in the show. SlowExposures invites visitors to meet Jerry at a brunch reception in his honor on Saturday, September 19th from 10 am to noon at the bookstore, A Novel Experience in Zebulon.

The Artists Atelier Gallery and Studios are proud to present the work of the photographic artists from the Atlanta Artist Center's Photography Salon. This is a group of dedicated photographers who strive for studied artistic expression, while maintaining exacting technical excellence. Members regularly achieve juried placements and awards for photographic work that not only, "pushes the envelope," but helps define it. Photographs using traditional processes, new processes and experimental processes will be featured.
"We have found that the association with a group of outstanding artists in all media, such as those at the Artists Atelier has broadened and nurtured our creativity and challenged our thinking about what is possible with photography," said H. Gay Allen, Founder and Chairman of the salon.
The Artists Atelier is a working artists' studio where Georgia painters, sculptors and photographers create display and sell their work to emerging and advance collectors. The Atelier was founded by well-known artist Ouida Canaday in 1985 and was the first artist co-op in Atlanta.
The public is invited to attend one of two receptions, either Saturday, September 19, or Saturday, October 17, from 12 noon until 3 p.m. These events are a part of Miami Circle's Art Walk.

AIR Serenbe & Jackson Fine Art welcome Andrew Moore to Georgia for a residency to support his most recent body of work that captures the American South. Throughout Moore's 35-year photographic career, he has positioned himself at the forefront of contemporary photography, capturing places of historical significance at times of transition. His work in Cuba, Russia, and post-recession Detroit has garnered international attention; now his interest has turned to a regional exploration of the United States, particularly the American South, an area that has fascinated him since he first began to take pictures. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia presents Sheila Pree Bright's exhibition: "1960 Now." Sheila Pree Bright, born 1967, is a fine art photographer based in Atlanta. Her large-scale works combine a wide-ranging knowledge of contemporary culture, while challenging perceptions of identity. "1960 Now" is a documentary project showing images of past and present figures of the Civil Rights Movement. This work is an evolution of "1960 Who," a photographic portraiture street series that depicted unknown youth leaders of the Civil Rights Movement from 50 years ago, who took a stand for human rights. Sheila Pree Bright is a 2014/2015 Working Artist Project winner. Each funded year, MOCA GA holds a metro-wide competition to select three working artists based on their talent, professionalism, and their proven ability to complete the project. The MOCA GA Working Artist Project is a year long program that supports metropolitan Atlanta visual artists, expands the Museum's mission, and strengthens the arts and cultural component of Atlanta. Other 2014/2015 Working Artist Project winners, Jonathan Bouknight and Sarah Emerson, will also present solo exhibitions.

'I am' presents a collection of photographs inspired by that longtime question: Who am I? There are a myriad of ways to reflect on and present this question. The works by Sandrine Arons, Rose M. Barron, Hastings Huggins and Alexandra Marrero are explorations of this journey. They traverse different times, locations, moods and settings and portray personal celebrations, quests and examinations of and by the artists. They are introspective, atmospheric and unpredictable; asking us to question how we perceive and choose to represent ourselves.
