Artist's Reception
Sep 19 10am- 12pm
Jerry Park calls his SlowExposures satellite solo show "Slow Roads Tennessee" which will be featured at A Novel Experience in Zebulon through October. He set out to see if he could capture "lasting goodness" along state, county and local two-lanes in the Volunteer State. He uses a Holga $25 plastic film camera to give the images an ageless feel, with the occasional streak of light across the picture and dark, ill-focused corners. Jerry says that toward the end of his journey across every county in the state, several of the photos began to dictate their stories, or poems, or essays to him--he wrote them down "as best as I could" and includes them in the show. SlowExposures invites visitors to meet Jerry at a brunch reception in his honor on Saturday, September 19th from 10 am to noon at the bookstore, A Novel Experience in Zebulon.
