Opening Reception
Sep 18 6- 8pm
Jackson Fine Art is pleased to exhibit new works by Masao Yamamoto and John Chiara throughout October. Yamamoto is known for his snapshot-sized monochromatic works, often presented in installations by the hundreds. His use of mixed media techniques and aged texturing recalls "memories dropping out of drawers." Recently, Yamamoto has been focusing on his Kawa=Flow series, emphasizing individual photographs as well as the collective entity.
San Francisco-based artist John Chiara combines photography and sculpture to create first-generation unique prints - without the use of film. Shooting with a handbuilt camera on a flatbed trailer, Chiara exposes and manipulates his images in situ. We're excited to bring Chiara's Mississippi photographs, taken over the course of one year in Coahoma County, MS, to the south.
Both exhibitions open with a reception and artist talk September 18-19 and will be on view throughout October as Atlanta Celebrates Photography.
