Opening Reception Oct 2 6- 9pm

This documentary series by award-winning photographer and author Stephanie Calabrese reveals an intriguing look at life in Monroe, Georgia — a small southern town situated comfortably between Athens and Atlanta. It's a place of contrasts — old and new, white collar and blue collar. Home to more than 13,000 folks — about half black and half white. It lacks a fancy grocery store, street art, and a place to buy liquor; but it's abundant in spacious cotton mills, bibles, and bankers. Conservative. Its shades of gray and democrats can be counted on one hand.

This series of photographs preserves a moment in time for Monroe, the artist's hometown, through intriguing scenes that depict a rare beauty she's discovered along the edges of the town's extremes.
