Exhibition
through Jan 10, 2016
Celebrated as one of the great mid-century American photographers, Brett Weston (1911-1993) is known for his distinctive approach to cityscapes, landscapes, and abstractions. Brett Weston is the son of influential photographer Edward Weston, who taught him to use a large-format camera. Weston's work initially focused on urban spaces in New York and San Francisco, but later shifted to abstract images of natural elements. Spanning more than fifty years, the prints in this show offer a broad view of the artist's career and demonstrate the High's strong holdings of post-war American photography. This exhibition is the result of a recent acquisition made possible through the generosity of Lucinda Bunnen, Christian Keesee, and the Brett Weston Archive.
